Creating Change Together

Explore a storytelling experience at the Central Library

22 October 2025

Sparking dialogue is at the heart of the work at Vibrant Communities Calgary (VCC). In partnership with the Calgary Public Library, we’ve taken over the Central Library Create Space again. The Create Space comes alive with an interactive exhibit that encourages everyone to discover what it means to create change together. From October 22 through January 31, the space features hands-on, visual, and storytelling experiences that highlight the long-term impacts of collective action on poverty reduction and celebrates how Calgarians are building a vibrant and inclusive city.
Visitors can see how collective efforts have kept the low-income transit pass accessible, how living wages are integral to our growing community, and the ongoing need to understand the housing landscape and the need for affordable housing.
Experience the Create Space by immersing yourself in the new film production of Making Ends Meet, a powerful adaptation of the play that shares real experiences of poverty. Play the 30-Day Snakes and Ladders Challenge, navigating the ups and downs of monthly expenses. Co-create images on Lite-Brite boards to express what’s possible when communities come together, and uncover hidden images through light and 3D printed objects that reveal new ways of seeing and understanding poverty and possibility.
Changing the systems that keep poverty in place requires all of us. We need connection, conversation, and community. Together, we continue to spark dialogue, inspire action, and drive lasting change.
Come experience the Create Space and see how you are part of building a city where there is enough for all.
