What we would need from you:
As the Lead Convenor on our Community Engagement team, it will be your job to not only hear the voices of those affected by poverty in our community, but to amplify their stories to create lasting change. You will be a driving force behind forging connections within the community, making sure the Enough for All strategy is more than just a plan—it's a living, breathing commitment to make poverty history in our community.
It will be your job to bring together diverse groups with radical purpose, from intimate gatherings to large-scale discussions. Your facilitation skills, particularly with equity deserving groups, will set the stage for genuine dialogue, ensuring everyone feels not just included but truly belongs.
Collaboration is at the core of what we do. With your colleagues on the community engagement team, you will be a bridge between Vibrant Communities Calgary and community, aligning efforts to create a powerful network dedicated to poverty reduction.

You have a proven background in community engagement in diverse settings. Your communication skills are unparalleled, whether you're conveying a compelling vision or representing Vibrant Communities Calgary. In addition to being a highly reliable and accountable team player, you're a creative thinker who approaches challenges with innovation.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and foster connections within Calgary to champion the voices of people living in and impacted by poverty.
- Utilize experience in facilitating both large and small group discussions and demonstrate outcomes, particularly with vulnerable populations.
- Create inclusive spaces that go beyond mere 'fitting in' to establish a sense of belonging for all participants.
- Develop and document processes to ensure best practices and continual improvement.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of community engagement.
Organizational Skills:
- We are a fast-paced and dynamic team. You must be able to demonstrate exceptional organizational skills to manage and coordinate a variety of activities.
- Ensure that events, meetings, and initiatives are executed seamlessly and efficiently.
Communication:
- Be committed to articulating a compelling vision for community engagement and the Enough for All Strategy.
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences, ranging from community members to organizational leaders.
- Collaborate with team members and represent Vibrant Communities Calgary in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Proven experience in community engagement, with a focus on poverty reduction or related social issues.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate discussions with diverse groups, particularly those who may be vulnerable or marginalized.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A creative and dynamic approach to problem-solving and community building.
- Previous experience in creating spaces of belonging and fostering inclusivity.
- Adaptable and innovative thinker.
- Collaborative and team oriented.
- Reliable and accountable for meeting objectives in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Salary & benefits
Salary is commensurate with experience, the range for this position is $65,000-70,000/year and includes a comprehensive benefits package. The standard work week is 37.5 hours.
